Imagine activating your body's healing wisdom through rest and deep relaxation. Thai Yoga Bodywork is an ancient healing art that originated in India more than 2000 years ago and subsequently spread and developed primarily in Thailand. Popularly known as Thai massage, it differs significantly from most Western styles of massage. The recipient remains clothed and lies on a floor mat rather than on a table, and typically no oils or lotions are used. Thai Yoga Bodywork is like combining your own personalized yoga session with a massage. It involves many of the same benefits and sometimes positions as yoga. Each session combines assisted stretching, range of motion movements, muscle and joint compression, muscular massage, and manipulating the subtle (energy) body channels to promote relaxation, free-flow of bioenergy, stress relief, and the body’s own natural ability to heal. Depending on your body’s constitution, stretching and pressure may be either firm or gentle. Although I maintain the word yoga in the name (following my primary teacher), you need not have any practice of or even interest in yoga in order to receive this type of bodywork.

Why do you need it?All physical bodywork is also manipulating the subtle body, so I sometimes think of Thai Yoga Bodywork as a kind of hands-on energy medicine. In that sense, it can be beneficial for a wide range of ailments, concerns, and issues related to not just physical health but overall wellbeing. For example, it can help manage chronic pain including back and joint pain, increase flexibility, speed injury recovery, relieve stress, reduce anxiety, regulate mood, and process stored traumas. If you are working through significant trauma either on your own or with a professional, please feel free to collaborate with me as you feel comfortable. On the other hand, please note that you need not have any specific focus other than promoting overall wellness.

Location: I practice out of my home in Eden Prairie, MN.
Pricing is a challenge for me. I imagine an economy where each individual is able to share their gifts and passions and everyone has what they need and does not accumulate more than they need. Since we don't live in that world yet, I have a suggested fee based on what I believe is fair and reasonable in our current environment, followed by a range that you might consider based on your circumstances. My intent is not to undercut other practitioners but rather to reduce financial obstacles to receiving care. If you have specific concerns or financial constraints that you would like to discuss, please contact me. Thai Yoga Bodywork, 60 minute treatment - $80 ($70-90) Payment is expected at the time of service unless another arrangement has been agreed upon in advance. I can accept cash or check only at this time. Accessibility is impacted by two sets of stairs, seven steps each, to reach the healing space on the upper level of our split-level home. FAQ's: Please wear comfortable clothing that does not restrict movement. More skin coverage is preferred over less. Additionally, it is best to avoid arriving with a full stomach. The session will last for a full hour, so please plan on about 75 minutes from arrival to departure. |
